Most people believe that you can die from a broken heart. That rejected love could cause someone to take their own life. But what if it isn’t heartache that caused the death of the unloved? What if something terrible actually claims their lives? What if there was something hiding in the shadows, waiting, watching, something unearthly, that fed on heartache, sorrow and the souls of the broken hearted?
Lilly Anne Freemantle and her new friends have experienced the cruelty of an unimaginable being and now live in fear, knowing that it will return and that they will never be safe. They know they need to destroy the being before it claims more lives. But will their plan work? Or will others die?
This novel reminds us that uttering those ‘three little words’ can bring joy and happiness. Yet makes you wonder what happens when love is not reciprocated. Can this be a catalyst for terror, horror and death?
“She would call out to him, she would apologise to him over and over again, tell him she loved him with all her heart, but her words always fell on deaf ears and she could sense him walking away, leaving her behind with her guilt as she cried out for his forgiveness.”
‘Three Little Words’ is the debut novel of author J.M. Robson, where she weaves an amazingly original story with the elements of horror, mystery, thrill and romance. It tells you the story of Lilly Anne Freemantle and her friends who have experienced the cruelty of an unimaginable being. The being who has already taken away the one they loved and threatens their present.
The plot of the story is quite refreshing and unique. It intrigues and grips you from the very beginning.
The book to my surprise (good one ;)) was not only about the creepy or horror element but had much more dimension to it. It teaches you the importance of love and friendship. And also how important it is to express yourself at the right time.
You come across many characters in this novel. But Robson with her excellent writing keeps it all together and does not let you get lost. She amazingly paints very distinctive personalities of all her characters.
All these make the read so much more interesting.
The element of mystery and thrill is present throughout and it keeps you on your toes. I read it in one sitting and will categorize it definitely as a page turner.
Lastly, the most important thing of this genre is the ending. And Three Little Words totally hits it! It is an immensely satisfying read and is definitely recommended.
My Rating: 4.5/5
