It is my pleasure to host author Samuel E. Sanchez on my blog today.
Me: What do you enjoy the most about writing for children?
Samuel: Children’s minds are like a Tabla Rasa, or an empty slate. They do not come with preconceive notions. Therefore, what we share has maximum effect, or impact on their lives.
Me: What made you pen down Little Johnny Goes To the Fair?
Samuel: Our children are being bombarded with a one-sided message. Magic, Witchcraft, Wizardry, and Mysticism are being thrusted upon our children, while Christian, Judean, and Muslim religious ideals are being ignored. I just want to create an alternative form of entertainment, so that parents have a choice about what their children should watch.
Me: How do you intend to impact readers with your book?
Samuel: I want to remind our children about the special relationship that they can share with the Creator.
Me: What is your target age group?
Samuel: I believe the Little Johnny Series is for everyone. I have written it so that the parents would read it to their children. In this manner, family is brought back together.
Me: Why do you think it is important for children to develop the habit of reading?
Samuel: Knowledge is power. Reading is a cornerstone in the development of knowledge, and therefore, a road to success and freedom.
Me: What do you like to do when you are not writing?
Samuel: I enjoy building my relationship with God, watching sports, reading books, and watching movies.
Me: Do you intend to stick to this genre for future projects?
Samuel: I love this genre, and will continue writing in it, as long as it is in the Good Lord’s will.
Me: Did you do the illustrations yourself?
Samuel: I wish that I did, but unfortunately that is not my calling. I am blessed to be in association with several superb artists, and they fulfil the void.
Me: Are there any new projects underway?
Samuel: I have been given the privilege of writing several Children’s Books. Sanchez Family Publishing has released, or is ready to release several books, such as The Little Moon Series, The Mandi Pandi and Friends Comic Book Series, and our latest, Lulu and Larry Comic Series.
Me: Have you always wanted to be a writer?
Samuel: Honestly, I do not consider myself to be a writer. I believe my calling is to be a teacher. I pray that the literary works God inspires me to write, will be lessons for God’s children.
Samuel E. Sanchez is an American family practice physician, who wrote the Christian children’s book, The Little Moon: the first book in the series, The Adventures of Little Moon. A series about the plight of an adolescent native American girl, growing up in the 1850s.
Over the last eight years, Samuel E. Sanchez has been dabbling in Christian literature. This has been his steppingstone in the realm of children’s Christian fiction books. His most recent Series, Mandi Pandi and Family, are a sequence of parables to teach young people the mannerisms and importance true of Christianity.
Samuel E. Sanchez is an Alumni from Cal State University of Long Beach where he studied Chemistry. Additionally, he obtained a Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences.
As a resident of Arizona, he has grown to appreciate the old west, particularly the native American culture. This has had a profound influence on his writing, especially his books and articles about old western America.
Come one, come all …., and experience yesterday, with a cup of coffee, and a good book by Dr. Sanchez.
